“Fillmore, Feel Well” Initiative

“Fillmore, Feel Well” Initiative

The “Fillmore, Feel Well” Initiative is a new community wellness campaign created by Booker T. Washington Community Service Center in partnership with Collective Impact and the New Community Leadership Foundation. The initiative centers community-based leadership, expertise, and resources to fight against anti-Black racism and discrimination in our health system by reducing barriers and access to wellness opportunities, serve as a bridge to disconnected communities, and bring back Black joy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The message is simple – Black Health Matters and we can “save” ourselves. With generous support from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, and the Metta Fund, the initiative launches in October 2021 to support the Fillmore/Western Addition community and increase solidarity, shared resources and communication amongst community-based anchor institutions. The goal of the campaign is to go beyond our four walls and bring wellness to the doorstep of our community – ensuring the recovery and regeneration of the Black community in the Fillmore/Western Addition.
