The AIM Rollin’ Root Farmer’s Market is Coming Spring 2022!

The AIM Rollin’ Root Farmer’s Market is Coming Spring 2022!

According to a 2020 study conducted by the Center for American Progress (CAP), Black and Hispanic households are twice as likely to experience food insecurity than white households. These disparities unfortunately do not exist by chance, but are a direct result of policies passed at every level of government to directly disenfranchised communities of color.

Booker T. is tackling this issue head on by partnering with organizations to meet the needs of our Black community. We are excited to share our partnership with AIM Rollin’ Root Mobile Farmers Market, a Bay Area-based organization with the mission to increase equitable access to fresh, healthy food grown on local farms and to provide nutrition education in underserved communities.

In partnership with the New Liberation Community Church, the Rollin’ Root food truck will be stocked with seasonal fruits, vegetables, nuts, rice and dairy products from our community garden so our community and neighbors can access affordable, nutritious fruits and vegetables.

CalFresh users who use their EBT card at the market, will be eligible for further discounts, as well as 50% off their purchase of fruits and vegetables through Market Match. Rollin’ Root also accepts Senior Bonus Bucks, which are $4 coupons for free fruits and vegetables issued to qualifying older adults ages 60+ who participate in the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

Food is not only fuel for our bodies, but plays an integral role in helping people understand culture and community. We’re excited about our new partnership with Rollin’ Root, and the holistic approach to wellness we’re taking to help address racialized access to healthy, affordable food.
