Booker T Washington Community Service Center

The vision of the BTWCSC is to support and maintain a healthy and vibrant community. We do this through services and programs designed to reduce the many social, economic, and educational disparities that challenge the youth and families we serve.

  • 🎉 Join us in celebrating the graduates of our Booker T. Butterfly program!

🦋 Throughout the program, 4th, 5th, and middle school girls who participate in our afterschool program formed friendships, took part in art and craft activities, and embarked on field trips, all with the goal of nurturing their personal growth and development.

We are immensely proud of you, girls!

  • From June 5th to June 9th, BTWCSC will be closed while we conduct our staff development workshops. As a result, all programming, including our Senior and Food Justice programs, will be temporarily cancelled. Our Friday Fresh Market will return on June 9th.

We'll resume our regular programming on June 12th! 🎉 In the meantime, if you have any urgent matters, please don't hesitate to contact us at (415) 928-6596. For Operations or Facilities inquiries, kindly reach out to James Johnson via email at jjohnson@btwcsc.org.

We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support!

  • In March, we launched our Teen/TAY (Transitional Aged Youth) Fellowship program! This 10-week program is specially designed to provide paid work experience, educational support, workshops, and service opportunities for teens in our area. Our goal is to help young people grow and develop into successful and engaged members of our community.

Our Teens/TAYs are featured here setting up our Food Justice Pantry, which feeds more than 500 families each month!

  • We had a wonderful time celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with a Kamayan Family Dinner!

We came together to share food, stories, culture, and belt out our favorite karaoke songs. We ate a delicious spread of Filipino dishes like lumpia, pancit, and barbecued chicken served on banana leaves, and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of a true Kamayan feast! Our Youth Specialist, Julia made her grandmother's leche flan and read "When Lola Visits," a picture book about a young girl's special summers when her grandmother comes to visit from the Philippines.

  • Our youth and their families visited the @deyoungmuseum to see "Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence." The exhibit features the artist's new series of sculptures and paintings that confront the silence surrounding systematic violence against Black people in the U.S.
