A Season of Gratitude & Giving Back

A Season of Gratitude & Giving Back

For over 100 years, the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center has been a safety net for 12 generations of families in the Western Addition and Fillmore neighborhoods of San Francisco. Whether it is a warm meal, a safe place to stay or a reliable place for their children to be after school, we pride ourselves on creating a place that feels like home for our community of youth, families and seniors!

We also acknowledge that the holiday season can be a financially challenging, or isolating time for some individuals and families. That’s why, we are coming together as an organization to create ways that our community can get involved and help support those who need it most.

Here’s how you can help in 3 easy ways:

  1. DONATE: This #GivingTuesday, we are encouraging our community to show up for our seniors, by contributing to programs that provide essential services, encourage connection and alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness, particularly during the holiday season. In partnership with Redwood City Credit Union, a community partner that elected to match every dollar donated, we want to galvanize the community to help our seniors live with grace, dignity and agency. If you are interested in helping to support our beloved senior community here at the Center, please donate here, every dollar counts.
  2. GIFT: Be a Santa and give to our Holiday Wish List! Help us bring holiday cheer to our community by purchasing requested items from our Amazon Holiday Wish List! Make holiday wishes come true in just 3 clicks, no reindeer sleigh needed!
  3. VOLUNTEER: Have time? We would love your help! Sign up to support our holiday food justice programs here.

As November comes to an end, we would also like to express our sincere gratitude for our volunteers and staff at Booker T., who show up everyday for our community. Our annual Harvest Festival, soulful sit-down dinner with our community, a grocery and turkey giveaway, holiday crafts, and family fun could not have been possible without you.
